One-of-one garment. Crafted in Johannesburg. Reclaimed heritage textiles. DHL worldwide shipping

A one-of-a-kind reversible Raya shawl, handcrafted by Rayana from reclaimed silk and organza sari cloth.

As founder of Sari for Change, Rayana rescues treasured sari remnants once worn and loved, selecting pieces for their beauty, history, and the unexpected ways they speak to one another. She then creates each Raya shawl herself, pairing contrasting fabrics and transforming precious fragments into something whole once more.

This piece brings together two richly layered florals. One side features a delicate ivory ground covered in trailing botanical motifs in plum, dusty rose, olive, and warm earthy tones — intricate and romantic, with the softness of an old textile garden. The reverse shifts dramatically into a sheer organza in deep violet, indigo, teal, and burgundy, where overlapping florals appear almost shadow-like through the translucent cloth. Glimpses of the contrasting sari beneath reveal themselves as the shawl moves.

The contrast between silk and sheer organza gives this piece its particular character: softness against transparency, detail against depth, and two very different expressions held within a single garment.

Shaped by Rayana’s hands from cloth that has been worn, weathered, mended, and loved, it reflects the resilience, sacrifice, and quiet beauty woven through motherhood.

Lightweight, fluid, and reversible, no two are ever alike.

One-of-One Craftsmanship

Every Sari for Change garment is entirely one-of-one.

Crafted from reclaimed heritage textiles, each piece carries its own history, character, and unique markings. Variations in weave, embroidery, texture, colour, and minor imperfections are part of the beauty of the regenerative process and should not be considered faults.

These characteristics are a reflection of the textile's journey and make each garment impossible to replicate.
