A one-of-a-kind reversible Raya shawl, handcrafted by Rayana from reclaimed sari cloth.
As founder of Sari for Change, Rayana rescues treasured sari remnants once worn and loved, selecting pieces for their softness, history, and enduring beauty. She then creates each Raya shawl herself-pairing contrasting textiles, hand-stitching every join, and transforming precious fragments into something whole once more.
This piece pairs a deep plum silk adorned with fine gold striping and intricate woven borders, its surface rich with traditional patterning and a soft, luminous sheen. It is balanced by a warm ivory cotton reverse, understated and grounding, offering a matte contrast to the silk’s glow. A panel of ornate purple brocade with metallic floral detailing bridges the two, adding depth and heritage character. Reversible by design, it offers two distinct expressions in one-opulent, patterned Banarasi silk on one side, and calm, sun-softened simplicity on the other.
Shaped by Rayana’s hands from cloth that has been worn, weathered, mended, and loved, it reflects the resilience, sacrifice, and quiet beauty woven through motherhood.
Soft, breathable, and fluid to drape, no two are ever alike.

Every Sari for Change garment is entirely one-of-one.
Crafted from reclaimed heritage textiles, each piece carries its own history, character, and unique markings. Variations in weave, embroidery, texture, colour, and minor imperfections are part of the beauty of the regenerative process and should not be considered faults.
These characteristics are a reflection of the textile's journey and make each garment impossible to replicate.
