One-of-one garment. Crafted in Johannesburg. Reclaimed heritage textiles. DHL worldwide shipping

Our Frill Kimono celebrates heritage and modern femininity, designed to empower women and honour their evolving identities. Crafted from upcycled Banarasi saris, it features intricate gilded threads, silver embroidery, and luxurious silk organza. Cascading frills create graceful movement, flowing behind you like a poetic statement of elegance and strength. Inspired by Cape Malay women—from Malaysia and Indonesia to South Africa—this kimono is a fusion of tradition and contemporary style.

Fabric:

A combination of an upcycled Banarasi sari, the original sari taking up to 6 months to create due to its fine silver embroidery, silk and brocade sari. Turquoise and pink with beaded details.

Sizes:

Free size with a flowing silhouette, fits up to a large, size 6-12

Styling Options:

Pair with a sleek dress for timeless elegance
Layer over tailored separates for a chic, modern look
Add a belt for a structured fit or wear open for dramatic fluidity

Inspired By:
A celebration of cultural roots—Indian, Malay, Arab, African—a fusion from the Indian Ocean, reflecting a journey toward oneness through identity.

Craftsmanship:
Meticulously crafted by Merilynne from Yeoville, a valued member of our team for 10 years, whose expertise brings bespoke creations like the Frill Kimono to life.

One-of-One Craftsmanship

Every Sari for Change garment is entirely one-of-one.

Crafted from reclaimed heritage textiles, each piece carries its own history, character, and unique markings. Variations in weave, embroidery, texture, colour, and minor imperfections are part of the beauty of the regenerative process and should not be considered faults.

These characteristics are a reflection of the textile's journey and make each garment impossible to replicate.
