lA soft expression of colour, movement and botanical artistry, this off-shoulder dress is crafted from a repurposed vintage butter silk blend sari in warm peach and coral tones. The original textile brings together a delicate tonal pattern with sweeping floral artwork in shades of fuchsia, ochre and green, creating a striking contrast between the softly patterned body and the larger hand-drawn-style motifs.
The gathered neckline creates an easy, flowing silhouette and can be styled on or off the shoulder. A contrasting coral tie falls from the neckline, finished with delicate bead detailing for a subtle decorative touch. Voluminous balloon sleeves taper into elasticated cuffs, while sections of the sari's darker border have been thoughtfully retained at the cuffs and hem.
Cut in a free size, the dress falls loosely to full length, allowing the butter silk to move fluidly around the body. The placement of the original sari artwork makes each angle of the garment different - with bold florals and sweeping linear motifs across the front and sides, contrasted by a quieter tonal pattern through the back.
